In 1975 Recording Consultants Incorporated was a young and thriving business operating out of a storefront in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.  Jay Kingery had started the company five years earlier repairing tape recorders in the basement of his home.  One of his service contract accounts was The U.S. Army Band at Fort Myer.  It was there that Jay met Rick Shepard, an engineer with the band.  Together the partners formed RCI Sound Systems, an audio production and rentals company.

By 2001 RCI had moved to a much larger facility in Beltsville, Maryland.  With the addition of a full service audio and video installation department, including a service and maintenance team, RCI became capable of meeting all of our clients event production and permanent installation needs.

Today, RCI handles over 800 projects annually.  Our Event Systems team covers the entire spectrum of sound reinforcement, video projection, staging, and backline rentals for the MidAtlantic region.  Special events, shows and concerts, corporate and institutional events, as well as broadcast productions are our specialties.

RCI’s Installed Systems team handles audio, video, and control needs for facilities throughout the Baltimore and Washington DC area.  Rather than trying to force clients into predetermined “packages,” each and every system is custom-designed for that project, ensuring that only the most appropriate and effective components are used.  RCI designers and engineers select just the right equipment from a large list of suppliers, and work with our clients to satisfy every requirement.
